Giving Credit Where Credit is Due

To be sure you give credit where credit is due and avoid plagiarism, it is important to be well organized and have your ducks in a row as you do your research!

Be sure to see these guides:       All About Citations     &     Avoiding Plagiarism

Remember:  Careful note-taking will help you give credit to ideas that are not your own and create an accurate bibliography.

Quick Tips

  • Make sure you match your notes with their source and the corresponding bibliographic information.
  • Be sure to put quotes around words you have taken directly form a source.
  • When using quotes, be sure to indicate what page it can be found on in the original source
