Zines

Citing Zines

When using zines in scholarship, it is important they are cited.

Using MLA Style:

Last, First Name or Organization [if different than Publisher]. Zine Title. Publisher, Date.

Here are some tips on how to format your citations:

  • Cite a pamphlet, zine, or brochure like a book.
  • Include as much detail as possible.
  • If the author of the zine is anonymous, the citation should begin with the title of the zine.
  • Pseudonyms and online usernames are cited as author names.
  • Include an issue number for zines that are from a numbered series.

For example:

Junkyard, Elliott. Nature's Medicine: Plants and Herbs for a Healthier Life. 2016.
